Altera acquires 36 apartments in De Vroon in The Hague

Real estate investor Altera Vastgoed NV (hereinafter: Altera) and Van Wijnen reached an agreement on the development of the De Vroon Residential Complex. Located at the edge of the newbuild district of Vroondaal in the southwest of The Hague, De Vroon comprises 36 apartments, 33 parking spaces and approximately 235 m² of community facilities with a terrace.

The rental units are 3- and 4-bedroom apartments with spacious outdoor areas. The apartments, varying in sizes between 60 to 120 m², have a view on the communal patio garden that covers the parking level. Having an Energy Performance Coefficient (EPC) of ≤ 0.0, the project without natural gas connection meets the high standards in the field of sustainability.

Jaap van der Bijl, CEO of Altera: “This acquisition helps us fulfil the need in The Hague for the target group of people aged over 55, which will increase further in the coming years. The combination in De Vroon of an integrated Fit and Vitality concept and sustainable living fits in well with this.”

Fit and Vitality Concept

The Fit and Vitality Concept is a new concept that serves to bring care and services closer, by making them accessible, so that people can continue to live at home and stay healthy for longer. The concept underwrites the report titled “Of age and independent in 2030” presented in 2020 to the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sports. The committee, under the direction of Wouter Bos, gave advice on care for elderly people living at home. One of the main conclusions drawn in this report is the need to “revaluate” collective and semi collective home options for elderly people.

Arjan van Meijeren – Director Real Estate Development at Van Wijnen: “By developing and building De Vroon we implement our ambition to grow in the area of living and caring.” For more information on the Fit and Vitality Concept and its associated partners, visit www.vroondaal-devroon.nl.

Construction will start in the second quarter of 2021, and completion is expected by the end of 2022.

Residential-care building De Vroon was partly created by the initiative of Centrum Groepswonen, Bergunlimited, Stadkwadraat and Vanschagen Architecten. They developed the Fit and Vital concept and entered into a collaboration with Van Wijnen and Altera for the further real estate development and construction.
