Altera carries out largest-ever certification of a retail property portfolio in the Benelux countries

Never before have so many retail properties been BREEAM-certified all at once. A total of 94 buildings with 671 stores in Altera Vastgoed’s retail portfolio received the BREEAM-NL In-Use certificate. These buildings represent over 200,000 m² of retail space.

The certification was carried out by real estate advisor Colliers International.

The new portfolio approach, a pilot by the Dutch Green Building Council, provided an effective means of certifying the entire portfolio. The retail portfolio consists of shopping centres, supermarkets and high-street stores  and. It involved a highly varied mix of retail property.  Proposal to replace preceding three sentences: The Altera retail portfolio mainly comprises shopping centres (including the convenience segment), supermarkets and high street stores. The properties are primarily located in the Randstad and adjacent flank areas. This certification contributes to Altera’s objective of increasing the sustainability of its property and creating a cleaner and better living environment. Erwin  Wessels, CIO of Altera Vastgoed, said: “The certification has given us valuable  insight into the sustainability of Altera’s retail portfolio. We will use this to further increase its sustainability in the years ahead, in a very targeted way.”
