Altera gives the go-ahead for the construction of 39 apartments in Statenkwartier, The Hague
Real estate investor Altera today gave the go-ahead to Van Wijnen to start construction on an apartment complex on Eisenhowerlaan in The Hague. The new complex is located in a former office building, on the corner of Prins Mauritslaan. Construction will start on June 2nd 2020, and the project will be completed in October 2021.
The building will accommodate 39 apartments and 45 parking spaces in an underground parking facility, with separate storage rooms and a communal bicycle storage area. The apartments are located on the ground floor up to the fourth floor. Each floor will have 9 to 12 apartments, with units ranging from 2 to 4 rooms.
The design will include a range of different apartment types, with floor areas ranging from appr. 68 to 155 sqm. Six apartments will also be included as part of the City of The Hague’s Housing Agenda. The project will be completely gas-free and include the installation of solar panels, air heat pumps and electric charging points.
The developer, Van Wijnen, has drawn up the plans for the project and will also execute it. The architectural firm KOW is responsible for the design.
Altera’s CEO, Jaap van der Bijl, commented: ‘This project is a good fit for our housing portfolio due to its excellent location and the quality of the residential units. It’s a redevelopment of a former office building from the Altera office portfolio. After an intensive process involving many stakeholders, we are very satisfied with the plans developed by Van Wijnen, and we are now ready to begin the construction phase.’
Location
The apartment complex is being realised on Eisenhowerlaan in The Hague’s Statenkwartier. Eisenhowerlaan forms a dividing line between the neighbourhoods of Statenkwartier, which was built at the start of the 20th century, and Zorgvliet. The building is located in an attractive area of The Hague’s international zone, opposite the Europol building. The location can be reached by car from the end of Utrechtse Baan (A12 motorway) within about 10 minutes. Tram lines 1 and 17 are a short walk away and provide a rapid connection with The Hague Central Station.
