Altera Vastgoed acquires Albert Heijn supermarket in Nijmegen from Ten Brinke

Altera Vastgoed NV (hereinafter: Altera) recently added a supermarket to its portfolio. This investment, located in the municipality of Nijmegen, is the 43rd supermarket Altera has added to its retail portfolio.

The supermarket measures over 1500 m² and is part of the full renovation of the Meijhorst neighbourhood shopping centre by Ten Brinke Broers Projectontwikkeling BV. Albert Heijn opened its doors at the start of April and is situated on the south side of the shopping centre, in the Dukenburg city district. The supermarket is adjacent to a car park with approximately 150 free parking spaces located in a blue zone.

The acquisition follows previous purchases of neighbourhood shopping centres in Amstelveen, Uithoorn and a supermarket in Zwijndrecht respectively. This supermarket constructed by Ten Brinke will be added to Altera’s sustainable food & convenience portfolio.

Jaap van der Bijl, CEO of Altera: “The addition of this newly constructed supermarket to our portfolio is part of our plan to further our investment strategy that is fully-focused on food & convenience. This strategy is a great fit for institutional investors: a higher direct return on investment, sustainable, and less sensitive to e-commerce and cyclical economic changes.”

During the purchase, Altera received commercial advice from KroesePaternotte and legal advice from Dentons. Sweco Vastgoedmanagement is responsible for the property management.
