Real estate investor Altera Vastgoed NV (hereafter: Altera) has taken delivery of the first 24 rental apartments in The Mayor from the construction combination UBA/De Nijs and welcomed the building’s first residents.
The Mayor, the former KPMG building on Burgemeester Rijnderslaan in Amstelveen, is currently undergoing a transformation. All in all, The Mayor will offer over 300 homes with parking and storage spaces that will be delivered in phases over the coming period. Altera will purchase a total of 124 apartments ranging from 87 m² to 121 m².
Erwin Wessels, CIO of Altera: “The completion of the first apartments marks an important next step in the transformation process, which will result in a sustainable residential location. Our investment strategy is geared towards a geographical focus on the Randstad urban region and adjacent residential areas, and the location of this property reflects that. The upcoming lowering of the A9 motorway and the green flyovers in the centre of Amstelveen will further optimise traffic flows and accessibility in the area.”
The apartment complex will meet all applicable sustainability requirements, in line with Altera’s ESG policy. Energy is supplied by a new thermal energy storage system. The roofs are covered with moss sedum and solar panels, and the paved courtyard has made way for a green layout aimed at promoting biodiversity. The existing car park on the building’s lower levels offers electric charging facilities.
The Mayor makes it easy for residents to communicate with each other and share information through the James Company community app. A coffee corner, gym and various hospitality facilities will enhance the community feeling.
