Jumbo expands and new tenant Zuivelhoeve at Mereveldplein

Altera Vastgoed NV (hereinafter: Altera) has signed a lease agreement with dairy retailer Zuivelhoeve for the neighbourhood shopping centre Mereveldplein. In addition, agreement has been reached with retail chain Jumbo to expand its existing supermarket by 354 m² to a total area of 2,000 m². These two lease transactions mean that Mereveldplein is once again fully let.

Mereveldplein is the leading location where the residents of De Meern come to do their daily shop. It is a robust shopping centre that consists of 17 stores covering a GFA of approximately 5,186 m². The outlets offer a complete range of food and convenience, with a healthy balance between local businesses and major retail chains, such as Albert Heijn, Jumbo and Kruidvat. Earlier this year, Altera upgraded the shopping centre by adding a children’s playground.

Erwin Wessels, Altera’s CIO, is delighted with developments at Mereveldplein: “We are obviously very pleased with both leases and the confidence shown by Zuivelhoeve and Jumbo, especially in these exceptional times. With a full daily range in the food and non-food sectors and several service providers, Mereveldplein is well-positioned. We are also looking to expand supermarket leases at several other locations in our portfolio, in consultation with the relevant retailers.”

For the expansion of Jumbo, Altera was advised by its property manager Colliers. The Zuivelhoeve lease was effected through the mediation of Q-Retail, acting on behalf of Altera.
