Altera Vastgoed continues sustainability drive in Udenhout

Altera Vastgoed (hereinafter: Altera) and BAM Wonen continue their cooperation aimed at enhancing the sustainability of Altera’s residential portfolio. Following improvements to the homes built in the 1980s in Sassenheim, it is now Udenhout’s turn for a sustainability upgrade. Making the residential portfolio more sustainable is in line with Altera’s ambition to make its portfolio Paris Proof by 2040 at the latest.

The project in Udenhout covers 36 single-family homes. The residents have agreed to sustainability measures for their homes, including fitting a heat recovery ventilation system and installing insulation for the roof, floor and outside doors. The homes have already been fitted with solar panels.

For four years running, Altera’s residential fund has been named GRESB Real Estate Global Sector Leader. This concerns an international property benchmark that applies environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria to a company’s activities and their potential impact on society or the environment.

Altera CIO Erwin Wessels: “Following the successful engagement with tenants in the process of making sustainability improvements to our homes in Sassenheim, we are now taking the next step in Udenhout. The signing of this joint initiative is also a good moment to reflect on our collaboration with BAM. Together, we are investing in a sustainable living environment focused on the wellbeing of our tenants, shareholders and the wider community.”

BAM Wonen Deputy Director of Renovation Concepts Henry Jongerden: “We draw energy from generating enthusiasm amongst tenants for energy-efficient homes. With Altera, we have put together a sustainability proposal that will delight residents in both Sassenheim and Udenhout. We are proud to push forward in partnership with sustained efforts that contribute to a greener world.”
